Obamacare Meme by grimdrifter Obamacare Meme by grimdrifter
Another post for our Facebook Page "Taking the Gloves OFF". There will be more posts to "Taking the Gloves OFF" as we plan on posting daily. "Taking the Gloves OFF" is dedicated to only posting original artwork with an anti-authoritarian theme. I doubt we will be able to crank out one piece of original artwork a day for very long, however, adapting some of our previous work to meme form should speed us along until we run out.

Ayn Rand got nailed , and she may have been a carpet tack , but she never nailed anything. Nail gun to the forehead more likely.

It's one of my all time favorite books. I found it so profound that its imagery, characters, and themes continue to work their way into my conversations with people. In this instance, would I be correct in assuming that you are referring to the incident at the 20th Century Motor Company, as described by Jeff Allen, a former employee of the once highly successful and innovative company? In short, the company is used as a socialist experiment by the Starnes siblings and disintegrates when the incentives created by the new policies make people turn on each other.

If that is the part of the book you are referring to, I agree completely. Her description of what happens to that company is gripping.

A friend of mine in California tells me that a local town in the foothills, is becoming a ghost town, so many houses up for sale that there are very few people left living on each block... so that fits Starnes also.

I'm into the last 250 pages of the book now. Sorry to say, I've begun skipping over the pages of exposition by the characters. It could never be a series- not when one monologue would take 1/3 of the episode! :P

But. . .but. . .from everything I've heard and read lately is that California is turning itself around and is may be on the way to becoming an actual Socialist Utopia!

From what I've heard, they are pumping water into the Pacific that is badly needed for agriculture. They are shipping a huge portion of their energy to Las Vegas. They are taxing their industries into neighboring states :P They spend like they are related to Obama... so Yes, you probably heard correctly!

Yeah, John Galt's 2 hour speech is a little too much to fit into film or television. It was far too long in my opinion. My favorite moments of the book were Jeff Allen's description of the fall of Starnesville and the moments of diabolical honesty from Dr. Floyd Ferris.

I just reached Galt's speech. And suddenly I find myself wondering: here's a powerful businessman, with sci-fi tech at his beck and call..... and isn't that exactly what Hollywood has chosen to portray as evil? Have to wonder if they latched onto Galt for that idea.
